We empower students to shape, engage and discover their potential through finding their 'voice' and using it.
Student Leadership programs offered by partner schools and St Mary's College support students to consider themselves global citizens, building an awareness of our interconnectedness with people and environments around the globe. They lead and participate in projects such as Project Compassion, Deafness Foundation (fundraising), the Long Walk (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth), Mini Vinnies (social justice) and correspondence with deaf students in countries such as Vietnam. Our student leaders model compassion and have pride in their deafness while pursuing their unique passions and developing their own strengths.
Why Choose St Mary's?
“Attending St Mary's Primary campus helped me at secondary school because I developed much independence and felt confident to self advocate for myself by asking teachers for help.”
- Amy (year 9)
“St Mary’s has shown me valuable life lessons and provided me with the essential foundations to situate me for my further education.”
- Keira (year 10)
“Coming through primary school at the South Morang campus helped me learn. I still felt nervous in Year 7 but it helped me with my confidence. I would still have done my running if I was a Marymede student but it would have been harder. I like the help St Mary's gives me, in particular knowing what the teachers want from me. I feel safe at St Mary's.”
- Luis
“St Mary's Primary School campus helped me to develop my social skills which allowed me to make new friends at secondary school. They helped me understand how to use my hearing technology.”
- Baylee
