Auslan Educational Interpreter (ES)

A part time Auslan Educational Interpreter is required to join our welcoming team commencing Term 1 2026, assisting deaf and hard of hearing secondary students in St Mary's College classrooms and our partner school, Thomas Carr College Tarneit.

The successful applicant will:

  • Interpret information between students and teachers in designated classes.
  • Adapt the register or style of interpreting to fit the needs of the student.
  • Attend and interpret at College assemblies, camps, excursions, TAFE and sporting activities as required.
  • Support deaf and hard of hearing students, with additional disabilities or needs with learning, organisational, emotional or communication difficulties.
  • Work as part of a team, always maintaining confidentiality with private or sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with Teachers of the Deaf and mainstream staff in reporting on the effectiveness of supports provided for students and on issues arising in the classroom in relation to those supports.
  • Be familiar with and comply with the school's child-safe policy and code of conduct, and any other policies or procedures relating to child safety and assist in the provision of a child-safe environment for students

  • The time fraction and days worked are negotiable for the right applicant.
